I've run this test several times: carry both a film camera and a digital camera, and at the same scene, with the same composition, capture the same moment. I've come to feel that film images always hold up to repeated viewing a little better than digital ones. They're more worth looking at \u2014 though not necessarily better-looking.<\/p>\n

This roll of Mamiya U Autofocus 35mm f2.8 feels about the same way.<\/p>\n

\nFilm's \"image stabilization\" lies in the film grain itself. It isn't so precise, so it's full of buffering room \u2014 I believe the human brain automatically ignores the imperfect parts when viewing, and focuses more on the overall structure of the image. This shot continues from the previous elevated-expressway scene; the cars had all stopped, crawling forward in a queue, so I had time to take photos.<\/p>\n

At first I thought that even though nobody used the overpass, why spend money to tear down something that was perfectly fine? It's a big expense, after all. \nIn Taiwan, a capybara costs on average 250,000 NT each. Since they're social animals, you have to keep at least two, which makes 500,000 NT. Add the need for spacious room to roam \u2014 calculating at 10 ping, at 250,000 NT per ping, that's 3,000,000 NT of cost. Spending 3 million NT to keep capybaras to draw in business \u2014 that's a serious investment.<\/p>\n
